Report finds worn carpets top home concern

A survey asked 2,000 adults what their top home bugbears are, and the top concern was found to be worn or dirty carpets. Below carpets in the list of top home issues were creaking floorboards, unattractive paint colours and lawns in poor condition.

The spring Bank Holiday long weekend is one of the busiest times for home renovations, and the survey suggests that many households will have made installing new carpets a priority. The survey also found that homeowners tend to put off work that needs doing in the home for an average of 19 weeks after they first decide that something needs fixing. Many simply decide to live with aspects of the home that bother them rather than take action.

The survey discovered that 31% of respondents say that they put off jobs because they lack the necessary skills or don’t have the right tools. Unlike many jobs, installing new carpets in Chester or North Wales homes is not difficult if you use a carpet retailer that both sells and fits carpets.

A dirty carpet may not need replacing, as provided it is not badly worn, a professional carpet cleaning service will restore its good looks. If a new carpet is needed, there are lots of carpet options available for all budgets and style tastes, and households can take several carpet samples home to see how they look in a room.

Once a carpet type, quality and colour or pattern has been chosen, the carpet retailer will arrange for it to be fitted by experts.
